Since the early 1990s, the domestic geothermal industry has installed 35,000 systems in Canada, 30,000 in residential homes. The aggregate displacement of CO2 emissions is 500,000 tonnes per year, and these systsems have been installed with virtually no financial support from the federal government.

NRCan estimates the payback for a residential heat pump can be as low as 3.4 years with no subsidy. Each residential system can reduce GHG emissions by 4 to 5 tonnes per year.

The industry continues to provide a clear and proven solution to Canada's GHG challenge ... without any help.
